OUR PROMISE IS "IF WE SELL IT, WE USE IT ON THE FARM OURSELVES" |
|
We open the farm twice a year as part of Australia's Open Garden Scheme Spring Organic Fair 31 October & 1 November 2009 This 2 day event was a huge success last year and is planned to be slightly bigger and better this spring. The garden will be open for inspection and there will be stalls selling food, drinks, seedlings, tools and books. Throught the day there will be talks, demonstrations and activities for children. Farm Food Feast 6 & 7 March 2010 Our autumn opening is a celebration of all flavourful bounty available at this time of year. Maribeth Cole head chef and owner of The Gods Cafe at ANU brings her kitchen team out to the farm for the weekend and cooks up a storm. Profits from the sale of food and drinks goes into the Allsun Farm Education Fund. For More Information About Australia's Open Garden Scheme Visit the WEB SITE www.opengarden.org.au/ In addition to opening the farm we go to several excellent small farm field days.
Hand tools are very personal the only real way to decide whether or not you like them is to actually use them. We bring working tools to all the field days we attend and we try to work up a piece of ground outside our tent so that you can try them out or see them demonstrated. Modular electric netting fence is also displayed. |

SMALL FARM FIELD DAYS October 17 - 18, 2009 We have moved again! See the field day catalogue for details. These field days are held every year on the third weekend in October. They began in 1979 as a community based forum for the display of small farm machinery and it was decided that all funds raised by the field days would be returned to the community. Murrumbateman is a 20 minute drive from Canberra and is about the same distance from our farm. Education is one of the aims of this field day and as well as informative sites and displays there are also a number of talks held on the grounds.
